CSR: Food Distribution (Collaboration SA & MASESA)

Sharing is caring. From this saying, we believe that sharing with others will bring back many blessings and positive energy. Even though it is not much, we want our students to know that we care about them, especially while living here in Kota Kinabalu. We know that it is not easy being an independent student, away from their families, learning to live independently. As Almacrestian, we always wanted to be part of their journey while they are with us. At AIC, we always try to find a way to help our students because as long as they are with us, we are their parents while they are away from home. They are our responsibilities. With that, the Student Affairs Department (SA) collaborates with MASESA to contribute to all Almacrest dormitory students currently staying here in Kota Kinabalu.

Ever since the Covid-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO) started in March, many of our students are affected. Many of them struggle in terms of their daily needs. During the 1st MCO, on 31st March 2020, MASESA has volunteered to help our students by contributing to daily food requirements. They have been donating dry food, noodles, rice, and many more. They also provide women with necessities and bath soap. The Management of Almacrest has also been contributing to our students needs. We are delighted that we can help them, especially in these challenging times. During that time, 41 students stayed in the hostel, and the SA department managed to distribute all of the donations to our dormitory students.

On 30th October 2020, where the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) started, MASESA contributed again to our dormitory students, but in terms of a lunch box per student. A total of 50 dormitory students received this lunch box. We are incredibly grateful for all the contribution we have received from MASESA and the management. It is a big thank you to our SA department for coordinating the food distribution. When living independently, we will encounter many things while growing and understanding how life goes. So, this is where we want to support them as a family.
