One of the responsibilities and purposes that we are on this earth is to help those in need. We want our students to grow their self-maturity. We want them to have the experience of helping others that are indeed in need. Raising awareness of the low blood levels in our local blood banks will probably save someone’s life.
On 15th -16th July and also 26th July 2020, a blood donation marathon was organised by the Sabah Amnesty blood organisation held at Asia City, encouraging everyone to donate blood to save lives.
One pint of blood could save three lives. Usually, every year Almacrest will never miss out on holding the blood donation campaign at our college. Sadly, due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, we were unable to do so this year. However, it did not stop us from donating blood. We would like to express our gratitude to Sabah Amnesty Blood Organisation for inviting us to this campaign. We believe this event brings much experience. Our students have got the chance to become the hero of the day by potentially saving someone’s life.
We have seen in social media, news, or any media platform that many people out there need this support. As human beings, we need to be aware of this situation because this is where we can share with those in need of our blood. Through this community service that we often conduct, at the end of the day, it is not just about the activity but rather what our students gained and learned from it. We hope that we will be able to do more beneficial activities like this, which will focus not just on our student self-development but also on their self-maturity and that just about every decision and initiative that they make could save a life.
